Job Overview

A reputable medical laboratory in Tripoli is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team in the Hematology and Parasitology departments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing samples, conducting specialized analyses, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring rigorous quality control standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Hematology Operations:

  • Perform complete blood counts (CBC), coagulation profiles (PT/INR, PTT), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) testing.

  • Prepare, stain, and examine peripheral blood smears for morphology evaluation and differential counts.

  • Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on automated hematology analyzers.

• Parasitology Operations:

  • Conduct routine and specialized stool examinations (macroscopic and microscopic) for ova, cysts, and parasites using direct smears and concentration techniques.

  • Perform microscopic urine analysis and sediment examinations.

  • Identify parasitic organisms accurately and document findings clearly.

• Quality Assurance & Safety:

  • Run internal quality control (IQC) daily, review Westgard rules, and participate in external quality assessment (EQA).

  • Maintain strict adherence to biosafety protocols, hazardous waste management, and infection control guidelines.

  • Verify and authorize test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and communicate critical values promptly.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences / Biomedical Technology or an equivalent accredited medical laboratory qualification.

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of proven hands-on clinical laboratory experience specifically in hematology and parasitology.

• Licensure: Valid professional license/registration to practice in Libya.

• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in blood film morphology and microscopic identification of parasites.

• Competencies: High attention to detail, strong organizational ability, and effective teamwork and communication skills.
