About the Role
EMKAN Engineering Consultancy is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Electrical Engineer to join our engineering consultancy and construction supervision team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and approving electrical engineering submissions, supervising electrical installations, and ensuring the technical compliance and performance of electrical systems across large-scale and technically complex construction projects.
The role particularly focuses on hospitals, hotels, healthcare facilities, and other buildings requiring sophisticated electrical infrastructure, critical power systems, and advanced low-current installations.
We are seeking an experienced engineering professional capable of independently reviewing complex electrical designs, assessing contractors’ technical submissions, and delivering high-quality engineering supervision in accordance with international standards.
Key Responsibilities
Review electrical design drawings, shop drawings, technical calculations, material submittals, and method statements.
Evaluate and recommend approval or rejection of electrical technical submissions in accordance with project requirements and delegated authority.
Supervise the execution and installation of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
Review and assess LV/MV distribution systems, transformers, substations, switchgear, distribution boards, and associated electrical infrastructure.
Verify electrical load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit calculations, protection coordination, and earthing systems.
Supervise and evaluate emergency power systems, diesel generators, UPS systems, and critical electrical installations.
Review and inspect lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, building management systems (BMS), and ELV/low-current systems.
Ensure proper integration and coordination of electrical installations with mechanical, architectural, and structural works.
Monitor contractors’ technical performance, installation quality, and adherence to approved methodologies.
Review inspection requests, testing and commissioning procedures, and electrical testing reports.
Identify technical deficiencies, issue observations, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Provide technical advice, engineering assessments, and professional recommendations to the Project Manager and consultancy management.
Participate in engineering coordination meetings and resolve complex technical issues arising during construction.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in engineering consultancy and construction supervision.
Proven experience in hospitals, international-standard hotels, healthcare facilities, or other complex building developments.
Advanced knowledge of power distribution, emergency power systems, lighting, fire alarm, ELV, and electrical building services.
Strong familiarity with relevant international standards, including IEC, IEEE, NFPA, and applicable electrical codes.
Demonstrated expertise in reviewing electrical engineering designs, calculations, and detailed shop drawings.
Strong understanding of electrical systems serving critical facilities, particularly hospitals and complex commercial buildings.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant electrical engineering software; experience with ETAP, Dialux, or Revit MEP is an advantage.
Excellent analytical abilities, technical decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication, reporting, and multidisciplinary coordination capabilities.
Good command of technical English is highly desirable.
Important: Candidates must demonstrate substantial experience in electrical engineering consultancy, technical design review, and the supervision of sophisticated electrical systems within complex building projects.
