EMKAN Engineering Consultancy is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering consultancy and construction supervision team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical review, evaluation, and approval of mechanical engineering drawings, materials, and installations, as well as supervising the execution of complex mechanical systems within major construction projects, particularly hospitals, hotels, healthcare facilities, and other technically demanding buildings.
We are looking for a technically strong professional with extensive hands-on consultancy and site supervision experience who can independently assess engineering solutions, identify design and installation deficiencies, and ensure full compliance with project specifications and applicable international standards.
Key Responsibilities
Review and evaluate mechanical design drawings, shop drawings, technical submittals, material submissions, and method statements.
Review and recommend approval or rejection of technical submissions in accordance with project requirements and delegated authority.
Supervise and inspect the installation of HVAC, plumbing, water supply, drainage, firefighting, and other mechanical building services.
Ensure mechanical systems comply with approved designs, technical specifications, relevant codes, and quality standards.
Review mechanical calculations, equipment selections, system layouts, and technical coordination between disciplines.
Monitor and evaluate contractors’ execution quality and technical performance.
Review inspection requests, testing procedures, testing and commissioning plans, and associated documentation.
Identify technical nonconformities and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines to resolve design and construction conflicts.
Provide technical assessments, engineering recommendations, and professional reports to the Project Manager and consultancy management.
Participate in technical meetings and support the resolution of complex engineering issues.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within engineering consultancy and construction supervision.
Proven experience in major hospitals, international-standard hotels, healthcare facilities, or other complex building projects.
Advanced technical knowledge of HVAC, firefighting, plumbing, and mechanical building systems.
Strong familiarity with applicable international standards, including ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, and relevant building codes.
Demonstrated experience reviewing and evaluating detailed engineering designs and shop drawings.
Excellent technical judgment, problem-solving capabilities, and quality-control awareness.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant engineering design/review software; Revit MEP experience is an advantage.
Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with contractors and multidisciplinary consultancy teams.
Good command of technical English is highly desirable.
Important: This position requires substantial technical expertise in complex building services and proven experience in engineering consultancy, technical review, and construction supervision.
