Chief Accountant

About the Role

AlQudra Aldaema for Engineering Consultations is seeking a Chief Accountant to lead and oversee the company’s financial accounting, reporting, control, and financial management activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring financial integrity, accurate and timely reporting, effective budget and cost control, treasury oversight, project financial monitoring, and compliance with applicable financial standards and company policies. The role will also provide financial guidance and support to Executive Management on financial risks, performance, and strategic financial matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure financial reporting complies with applicable IFRS/IAS standards and relevant laws and regulations.
• Review budget versus actual performance and investigate significant financial variances.
• Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting and financial planning process.
• Monitor cost performance and implement effective cost control measures.
• Oversee cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and banking activities.
• Monitor foreign exchange exposure and financial risks.
• Provide financial oversight of company projects, including project budgets, IPCs, advance payments, retention schedules, and project profitability.
• Monitor project financial performance and identify financial risks and variances.
• Oversee asset capitalization, depreciation, asset records, and asset management activities.
• Establish and maintain effective internal financial controls and ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities and ensure continuous audit readiness.
• Review and approve financial reports and provide accurate financial information to Executive Management.
• Supervise and coordinate accounting and financial operations.
• Establish financial performance objectives and KPIs for the accounting function.
• Support the development of financial policies, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and recommendations to support management decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive financial experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a senior financial or accounting position.
• Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of IFRS/IAS standards.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and financial risk management.
• Experience in project-based or construction industries is preferred.
• Experience managing significant or multi-million currency budgets.
• Strong background in treasury management, project finance, and multi-currency environments.

Preferred Skills

• Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, MBA, or an equivalent qualification.
• Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, CFA, or equivalent.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Odoo, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills.
• Experience with bank guarantees and financing arrangements.
• Experience with payroll and financial management systems.
• Knowledge of asset management frameworks.
• Strong financial forecasting and analytical capabilities.
